UFC Welterweight title contender Colby Covington seems to be unsure of where Jon Jones’ loyalty lies. He has questioned Jones’ ability to keep his head about himself and doubts that he might actually not end up in the Octagon that night, given his history. Covington, who is a former roommate of Jon Jones, is convinced that the UFC wants Colby Covington vs. Leon Edwards as a backup fight card that night because Jon Jones has a history of troubles outside the ring. However, he didn’t stop there.

The Welterweight fighter said that sources have told him that Jones has met with the top brass over at the UFC headquarters and has refused to be a part of the fight card in case Covington was on it. Covington then went on to insinuate that Jones might be scared that Covington might bare his reality to the world and that is why, the UFC HW champ is fighting tooth and nail, to ensure they don’t end up on the same fight card. Jon Jones is currently prepping to fight UFC Heavyweight legend, Stipe Miocic.

Preliminary Card Not Good Enough for Chris Weidman after he ‘put his body on the line’

UFC Middleweight fighter Chris Weidman was doing really well for himself until he limped home in excruciating pain from a horrendous leg injury, that he suffered during his fight against Uriah Hall. Two long years later, Weidman is looking to make his return to the UFC and was expecting a great welcome from the promotion and his fans. However, he seemed disappointed with the way things were lining up for him.

Weidman, who is used to headlining fight cards and being in main events, was disappointed to learn that his return fight against Brad Tavares would be a part of the preliminary bouts. “It’s kind of disrespectful, to be honest.“, he said, before proceeding to talk about how he put his body on the line for the UFC and how he felt the UFC didn’t respect that.

What, do you think I’m done? Do you think I’m here to just see how I feel? No. I’m here to make a statement.“, added Weidman, determined to prove everyone wrong. Tavares, on the other hand, has been empathetic about Weidman’s injury but has been crystal clear about the fact that he has no plans of holding back.

The two were seen in a heated exchange, and an agitated Garry was adamant about not letting Magny speak throughout the press conference. Magny’s questionable comments were answered by Garry’s reply, which sounded similar to one of the most famous lines from fellow countryman and former UFC Lightweight champ, Conor McGregor. “He should sit there and f****** sit down and shut up, and just reflect on what he said.“, the Irishman had commented at one point.

The comments made by both fighters during the press conference were personal and Magny warned Garry about dragging his kids into the mix. Although allegations were made and things were starting to get heated up, there were no physical altercations between the two.
