Ian Garry won against Geoff Neal at UFC 298 and people were still not happy with him. The fight was close and both the fighters showed up with Garry picking up a very close split-decision victory. However, even when Joe Rogan stepped inside the cage to interview the fighter, the crowd was still loud.

And they were still booing. The timeline is pretty much ongoing with just about everyone thrashing Ian Garry online and now, in person. In fact, it looked like the UFC had to give his wife, Layla Garry Machado a special seat apart from the spectators for her comfort because the crowd was still relentless as the fight went on. Now, Garry has an answer for them.

Ian Garry came to the UFC 298 press conference right before the fight and he was prepared for it all. Even in the presser, the booing was present, and it was evident. While the young fighter waited for reporters to ask him questions, the first thing he dealt with were the nay-sayers.

Garry treated the crowd with the same coldness that he spoke of in the interview. “. . .at the end you’re all here watching me.” The young fighter said to the host of The MMA Hour Show. Garry truly believes in being himself whether he finds cheers or boos.

“No I mean the truth is Ariel, I’m not trying to be anything,” he said when asked who he felt like he was in this narrative, and added, “I’m being myself. I’m not trying to be the good guy, I’m not trying to be the villain, I’m not trying to be the hero, I’m not trying to be anything on this planet.”

“. . . So if I’m stood in an Octagon with Joe Rogan trying to do my post-fight interview and the whole crowd’s booing it’s like at the end you’re all here watching me. Keeping booing. That’s the type of person I am.” After the fight, Ian Garry looked like he had a clear idea of who to call out next, just so he could get back at all the hate, one way, or another.

What’s next on Garry’s list?

Next, Ian Garry wants none other than Colby ‘Chaos‘ Covington. The fighter called him out right after defeating Geoff Neal and he wasn’t happy with anything Covington had said about him. It’s all rather public now, the online hatred towards Garry’s wife and their relationship is unfortunately a highly discussed matter.

Covington is one of the pros who reacted to the whole thing blowing up calling Garry all sorts of terrible things. And of course, he heard it all. Now, ‘The Future’ wants to make sure ‘Chaos’ swallows his words. He reiterated the same emotion to Helwani.

He told him that he was willing to fight Covington anywhere. All he wants is to “destroy” him. Ian Garry holds that Covington is fake and all he can dream about is defeating the trash-talking highlight of the welterweight division. Will that come by soon?
