Colby Covington‘s career seems to be on its last legs. The 36-year-old let down his fans in his UFC 296 clash against champion Leon Edwards, for which his hero Donald Trump was present in the arena. He was thoroughly dominated over five rounds in the third and almost definitely the last title shot of his career.

However, undefeated welterweight prospect, Ian ‘Machado’ Garry seemingly threw him a life-boat when he called out ‘Chaos’ after defeating Geoff Neal at their UFC 298 clash. And Covington responded with an expletive-laden video, and put up three stipulations to fight him.

Garry has responded to Covington’s conditions in a video he posted on Instagram where he made clear that the American was in no position to be dictating terms. “Listen here Colby Chaos Covington, you are in no position to tell me what I should be doing in life. You’ll do as you’re told,” Garry said in his response.

In addition, the Irishman promised to “retire” Covington in the caption to the post. “I’m going to Rid the UFC of Colby Covington and Make MMA Great Again #retirecolby #makemmagreatagain #ufc,” he wrote. However, this response didn’t go down well with fans, who felt that the response from the Irishman was mild and underwhelming compared to Covington’s expletive filled video, where he put some strange conditions before he fights Garry.

Colby Covington’s three conditions to fight Ian Garry

Ian Garry’s wife, Layla Anna-Lee, fourteen years his senior, has been under fire since last year from UFC fans, who accused the former broadcaster of being a gold digger having manipulated Garry into marrying him and had ‘trapped’ him. There were also rumors that her ex-husband used to live with them at Garry’s home, which rubbed the fans the wrong way.

The couple has repeatedly tried to put down these rumors, clarifying that her ex-husband did not live with them and that the reason Garry had married Layla was purely out of love. Given this controversy, Colby Covington targeted Garry’s wife in his video trashing Garry.

First, ‘Chaos’ demanded that “you and that gold-digging wh*re got to turn your Instagram comments back on”. ‘The Future’ had turned off the comments on his Instagram account following the controversy around his wife and the Trump supporter had asked them to be turned on with Garry forfeiting his purse if he decides to turn them off again.

Second, the American asked that Anna-Lee convince fans why the fight needs to happen and suggested she should “get on your hands and knees and beg” for the fight. Finally, Covington demanded that his wife feature in an advertisement for ‘Mybookie’ with him “after I beat your husband because that’s a foregone conclusion, I would beat him.”

Clearly, Covington is trying to gin up interest for the fight by targeting Garry’s wife. Some would say that is crossing a line, but fans know that is just another day in the office for Covington, who had told Leon Edwards before their UFC 296 clash that his deceased father was “in hell” as he had been a criminal. Even though he did his best to seemingly rile up Garry by targeting his wife, it seems he did not quite succeed given the comparatively calm response by the Irishman.
