UFC prospect Ian Garry fought his second fight inside the UFC Octagon at UFC 273. The Irish fighter, who wants to replicate the success of Conor McGregor in the UFC, has now named another legend whose style he wants to implement in his bouts.

After getting his hand raised for the second straight, Garry talked about his performance and what he wanted next in the backstage interview.

‘The Future’ said, “As we grow, as we grow, I also have to do what GSP did. I’ll start to beat people at their own game; I’ll start to take down wrestlers; I’ll start to out-strike the strikers and I want to be able to do absolutely everything to anybody in this planet, and it comes with time, Megan.”

Garry is a phenomenal striker and has shown the same in his two performances inside the Octagon. His effective counter-striking was on full display in the first bout, where he fought the early adversity and got a beautiful knockout.

In this fight, Garry showed he can stuff takedowns and has shown improvement in his already world-class striking. Thus, with the mindset and fanbase that he has, his rise in the UFC could be quick and a fun ride.

Ian Garry had a tough time against Darian Weeks at UFC 273

Garry and Weeks put on a show and had a hard battle, with both fighters looking promising early in the fight. However, ‘The Future’ edged out a unanimous decision win (29-28, 30-27, 30-27). Though the scorecard looked one-sided, the bout was tighter.

The undefeated fighter was not happy with his own performance at UFC 273. Garry showed his disappointment in the post-fight octagon interview and suggested he is still undefeated and is learning on the job.

While ‘The Future’ improved to 9-0 after the bout, Darian Weeks fell to 5-2 in his MMA career.

Weeks was a tough talent for Garry, but things in the future will only get tougher for ‘The Future’. Thus, it will be interesting to see if he can find fame like Conor McGregor and implement GSP‘s style to build a legacy like the welterweight GOAT.
