Dustin Poirier has managed two successive wins against Conor McGregor this year. After claiming a T/KO finish at UFC 257, ‘The Diamond’ won yet again at UFC 264. However, this time McGregor suffered a freak leg break.
Many have questioned if that was curtains for the Irishman in terms of his MMA career. But, it seems like McGregor is recovering pretty well. Recently, in an interview, Poirier also revealed that if anybody can make a comeback from such a horrific injury it’s McGregor.

“That injury man, he broke the tibia and fibia. That’s gonna be a long road. But, look at all the things the guy has accomplished. If anybody can come back from that it’s him,” said Poirier on McGregor’s injury.
“I don’t hate any of these guys. All the stuff said and he could, he could. He is a former multiple-time world champion. And he knows how to work. He has money. He has a team around him. So, if he wants to build it back up, he has all the things to do that,” he added.
Poirier is now up 2-1 against McGregor. He has managed to overturn the scorecard in his favor. McGregor earned a T/KO finish of his own in their first clash at UFC 178 in 2014.
Dusti Poirier vs Charles Oliveira next

The duo is expected to square off at UFC 269 later this year. This will be Poirier‘s second shot at capturing the undisputed lightweight title. He has previously challenged for it at UFC 242 against Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Poirier fell short on that occasion. If the former interim champion can finally get his hands on the undisputed gold, remains to be seen.
