UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad will fight Leon Edwards this weekend in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card. ‘Remember The Name’ Muhammad is confident of his chances against a top contender like Edwards and already has an opponent in mind if he gets the win this weekend.
‘Remember The Name’ wants to fight Colby Covington next. He revealed recently that he has some real animosity towards ‘Chaos’ and he would like to settle the differences inside the Octagon. Also, Muhammad believes stylistically the fight makes sense, as Covington’s style is somewhat similar to that of champion Kamaru Usman’s. So, of course, it will help him prepare for a title fight.
When asked if he would like to wait for a title shot next if he wins against Edward this weekend, Muhammad said, “No, I’m not gonna be one of those guys that gonna say especially if it’s Colby Covington because after this fight that says who’s next up, and I hate that guy’s guts if I ever see that guy in the streets, I’m hitting him.”

“That’s gonna prepare you for the Usman fight who’s the champion. So for me it’s just keeping the momentum going if I could keep fighting if I’m God willing, I’m healthy inshallah. win this fight and if they want to give me back here a month later against Colby, why not I’m down,” Muhammad added.

Does Belal Muhammad vs Colby Covington make sense next?
Muhammad is coming off a win against Dhiego Lima at UFC 258. If he gets past Edwards, he will certainly earn the right to call-out top contenders. And it looks like he is doing a great job of marketing himself.

Covington is an elite of the elites at the welterweight division. The former interim champion defeated former champion, Tyron Woodley, in his last fight. Now, he is looking to get a rematch against Kamaru Usman after getting beaten at UFC 245. One might argue ‘Chaos’ is one fight away from securing a second title shot for himself.

However, Muhammad needs to focus on Edwards entirely for now. A fight against Covington will certainly be a great opportunity for him and seems realistic if he can upset a fighter like Edwards.
