Rogan even defended Phelps in 2009 after Kelloggs fired the American swimmer over his hemp use. He wrote an open letter to Kelloggs to try to change their minds. In the letter, Rogan mentioned how the law is “corrupt” and that hemp is “relatively harmless” and far less dangerous than prescription drugs.

Rogan also explained why it was illegal. According to him, this was because it was a plant, and one can’t patent or control its sale. Making it legal would also affect the demand for prescription drugs, from which companies acquire billions of dollars annually.

Rogan mentioned that the use of hemp hadn’t killed a single person in over 10,000 years and called it a “horribly illogical law.” He said these laws were “A horrible waste of resources and law enforcement.”
