

Jorge Masvidal will be making a comeback to the UFC ring after more than a year of inactivity. The fans last saw Masvidal when he faced Colby Covington at UFC 272. Masvidal fights Gilbert Burns on April 8, 2023, at UFC 287. The fight has already got the MMA world excited, as both these fighters are known for their striking abilities and aggressive fighting style.

In 2021, Masvidal launched his own fighting promotion called the Gamebred Fighting Championship. ‘Gamebred’ is also the nickname of Jorge Masvidal. Gamebred Fighting Championship’s next big boxing event has big names like Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis. The event is scheduled for April 1, 2023, just one week before Masvidal’s fight.

On the recent episode of The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani, the host asked Masvidal if the fighter was stressed about the two dates being close to each other. Masvidal had some interesting things to say about it.

Masvidal seemed very calm and composed about his fight and his fighting promotion’s event being so close to each other. “If I was doing something else, it could be troubling”, Masvidal said. He also pointed out the fact that he is at the “Mecca of fighters”, which means that people from a fighting background always surrounded him.

“I am not promoting some rap album, I am promoting fighting”, said the 38-year-old UFC fighter. According to him, since both things are related to fighting, which is his area of expertise, it would not be a problem for him to manage them. He even pointed out that it may as well be easy for him to promote both events. “I think it is perfect, I get to co-promote both of them”, said Masvidal.

Masvidal, on the other hand, has not had an amazing recent record. The Miami-born fighter has lost all of his last three fights. He will be looking to get a win here, and then possibly challenge Leon Edwards for the title. MMA fans are well aware of the history between Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards.
