UFC 300 is just a few weeks away, and the fans are all geared up for the event. Some of the biggest names in the UFC will showcase their skills at the event. But the one fight that has garnered a lot of attention is the fight between Justin Gathje and Max Holloway for the BMF title.

Before their clash, Max Holloway took to his YouTube channel to discuss the fight. During the video, he took time to remind the world of the harsh reality of the MMA fighters. He even cited basketball legend Lebron James as an example. But why did he do so?

MMA fighters are undoubtedly one of the strongest athletes in the world. Not only do they put their body on the line but also suffer a risk of getting severely injured. ‘Blessed’ in his recent interview pointed out exactly the things a MMA fighter faces in his career. He even mentioned how one bad fight can immediately bring in criticism from the fans. The 32-year-old then pointed out how Lebron James can earn his fans back immediately in the next game.

He said, “In MMA, there are fans who have short-term memory loss. One day, someone’s the greatest and then something happens, and they forget about what the man did. ” He further added, “Being a fighter is the hardest thing ever in this whole world. In any other sport: Baseball, basketball, soccer even F1. You can have a s..ty day but guess what 2 days later you got another match to remind people why you are great. If Lebron James went on Wednesday night and missed all his shots, everybody’s going to be booing. But then Friday or Saturday they have a game again he didn’t miss a single shot, and now he’s the greatest again. You can’t do that in MMA.”

Well, Holloway has come up with a unique way of comparing two different sports. However, he will have to be at his best against Justin Gaethje for the BMF title fight. But why did he settle for the BMF title and not any other? Max Holloway gave his reasons in a recent interview.

Max Holloway reveals why he agreed to fight for the BMF title

The former UFC featherweight champion shocked everyone when he decided to line up for the BMF title at UFC  300. Many fans believed that a fighter of his caliber and record deserved a title shot. Even former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, in his recent interview with MMA Junkie, stated, “Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway, it makes no sense in my opinion.” Despite coming off a victory in his previous fight, why did he agree to the BMF title fight?

‘Blessed’ in his recent interview on Instagram by Championship Rounds, cleared the air on the whole. He said, “I thought, this whole time in my mind that, if Topuria was to beat Volk in any way, Volk gets a direct rematch. Volk did enough work to earn himself a direct rematch…” He further added, “So, at the end of the day, I always thought if Topuria won, I’d still be waiting because Volk would get a direct rematch.” Do you agree with Max Holloway’s decision this time?
