Winning any title in the sport of mixed martial arts is special. However, winning a title once held by Conor McGregor serves as the cherry on the cake.

In a similar instance, Middlesbrough MMA fighter George Hardwick won a title once held by The Notorious. In the process, Hardwick defeated an opponent who belonged to McGregor’s ultimate rivals gym.

At Cage Warriors 141, George Hardwick beat Kyle Driscoll in the 4th round via TKO. The event was telecasted on the UFC’s streaming platform UFC Fight Pass.

Hardwick was in for a tough test against Driscoll, who trains under the tutelage of Khabib Nurmagomedov at the American Kickboxing Academy. However, the Middlesbrough fighter overcame the test. Hardwick now looks to earn his shot at the UFC, just like Conor McGregor once did.
In an emotional post-fight speech, Hardwick said, “He is a savage from AKA, the best gym in the world, and he hit me with some good shots… but it doesn’t matter how hard you hit a lad from Boro.”

Hardwick, in his fight, displayed immense toughness. The fighter now boasts a professional MMA record of 10-1. Along with having an impressive record, Hardwick also holds a prestigious title, which the fighter acknowledged.

Conor McGregor’s time in Cage Warriors was a special moment for fans to witness. The Notorious, with his crisp, striking, became a two-division champion in one of Europe’s leading promotions. In his reign, McGregor held the 145 and 155-pound titles.

George Hardwick expressed his excitement on winning a belt once held by Conor McGregor. The fighter labeled it as the most special moment in his life. Hardwick said, “Some great fighters have had this belt, like Conor McGregor and Jai Herbert, but it’s mine now and it’s unreal to have it. It’s the most special feeling of my life.”
After winning the lightweight title in Cage Warriors, Conor McGregor was called up to the UFC. George Hardwick said he would be ready for the same. The fighter added, “If the UFC calls, the UFC calls, but I’ll be ready for whatever is next. I’m only just getting started. This is only the beginning for me.”
