The UFC President Dana White has hit a snag with his latest venture, the Power Slap, as it fails to find much traction among the audience. While the UFC is scaling new heights in the sports world, the idea of a slap fighting league doesn’t seem to have resonated with many, facing criticism and even having calls for the ban. It appears that White’s gamble to introduce a new form of combat sport has not paid off. However, the setback hasn’t deterred the UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, from suggesting an alternative course of action in his recent episode.

Rogan believes that with the UFC’s massive promotion and fan following, the organization holds the potential to introduce and popularize another combat sport alongside MMA. Although Power Slap holds its own spot on social media and among the audience, but for the most part, it is not considered quintessentially a sport.

Joe Rogan believes UFC should bring kickboxing in America

In the episode #137 of the JRE MMA Show, Joe Rogan and Jorge Masvidal engaged in a riveting conversation about the sport, fights, and other aspects. During their chat, Rogan stumbled upon the topic of kickboxing, and he couldn’t help but express his love for Muay Thai. He stated that he never understood why Thai Boxing never became huge in America, but he believed that it was more marketable than slap fighting.

Rogan feels if it had a backing from a promotion as big as the UFC, like Power Slap gets, it could open up doors for an elite sport on a global stage. Rogan said, “Think about what the UFC has done with the slap fighting[Power Slap]. Which is not really my thing. But Muay Thai, I feel like is more marketable. You get like elite Joe Schilling type strikers, and have like [what] Glory did. Glory is wild. I f**king love Glory.

The UFC commentator continued, “I just don’t understand why it didn’t become more popular. And the only thing that makes sense to me was, it wasn’t promoted correctly. But if you got a big promotion like the UFC’s promotion machine, behind world-class kickboxing, I think it could be as big as MMA.”

Later in the discussion, the 55-year-old stated that if the Power Slap doesn’t work out, this could still be a possibility. “I really feel like the UFC could have done that. And I feel like if the slap fighting thing, doesn’t work out, maybe the UFC could do that.”
