UFC welterweight Colby Covington sat down with James Lynch from MMA News and went over several subjects related to the sport. Moreover, he was asked about specific fighters on the UFC’s roster and Covington went off on each and every one of them. One name that came across Covington’s radar was fan-favorite slugger, Nate Diaz.

Chiefly, Nate Diaz is on the last fight of his UFC contract and fans have been speculating that he won’t resign with the company. UFC President Dana White has thrown around a lot of potential opponents for Nate Diaz to fight, including Khamzat Chimaev.

Colby Covington was asked about possibly fighting Diaz and he was extremely confident about the result of that potential clash.

“I don’t think Nate’s going to fight. He’s only got one fight on his contract so of course he’s not going to accept me on the last fight of his contract. I’ll annihilate that guy.”

“I’ll leave for him literally dead, he’ll have nothing left in the tank. I know he wants to get out of his UFC contract so he can go make some money elsewhere. So, there’s no chance either of those guys will fight me.”

“They’re coming at me with (Chimaev) and I’m like, ‘Hold on, don’t disrespect me like that, trying to offer me a fight with a rookie,’” Diaz said. “I’m cool. You got four fights in the UFC. Don’t even talk my name. … There’s levels to this and I don’t even want to hear his name.”

Diaz has looked at a bout against Chimaev as disrespectful considering the disparity in the number of fights both men have. However, Chimaev is currently one of the biggest names in the sport and is definitely someone worth watching out for. Fans will be on the edge of their seat trying to determine who Nate Diaz’s final opponent will be.
