Michael Chandler came to the UFC in early 2021 as a potential lightweight contender. And the former Bellator fighter proved it true with his dominant debut win over lightweight elite Dan Hooker.

Since then, the Missouri native has seen a fall down from grace as he lost his first title fight in the UFC. But that hasn’t stopped ‘Iron’ from finding his dream opponents. As Chandler once again called out ‘The Notorious’ to accept a comeback fight against him.

However, this didn’t go well with veteran Tony Ferguson, who had planned to fight Michael Chandler in the spring of 2022. Who later called Chandler his ‘Bitch’. However, Ferguson’s gesture didn’t sit well with ‘Iron’, who issued a stern warning to ‘El Cucuy’ for being disrespectful.

“Oh Tony. There’s only a handful of guys in this game I truly respect…you’re one of them. Only because of your tenure, not your stature or your current presence in the division. I’ll beat you from bell to bell. Pray for a merciful ref. We shall see if this fight happens.”

Initially, Chandler asserted he respects the Californian, but if he crosses the line, things will be different. At present, Chandler is coming off a loss against ‘The Highlight Reel’ Justin Gaethje. Chandler is currently 1-2 in his last 3 fights after losing to Charles Oliveira and the aforementioned subsequently.

Similarly, ‘El Cucuy’ is also on a losing 3 fight losing skid ever since Justin Gaethje snapped his 12 fight winning streak back in 2020. The former interim lightweight champion has since then registered losses from the current undisputed lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush.

Michael Chandler wants to take on Conor McGregor

Ever since ‘Iron’ won his first fight in the octagon, the former Bellator lightweight champion made it clear who he wants to fight. And the one who remains on top of his list is none other than the former UFC double champion Conor McGregor.

Chandler(22-7) respectfully called out ‘The Notorious’ at the beginning of his UFC career and since then has taken to social media to invite the Irishman for a fight. However, McGregor has denied fighting Chandler on all occasions.
