

UFC Welterweight Colby Covington took to Instagram and responded to the backlash that has been coming his way on social media. True to form, ‘Chaos‘ has dismissed the fall-out of his controversial remarks and largely brushed them aside. However, his stance is not surprising given the manner in which he’s gone about promoting himself in the fight game.

The controversial remarks made by the Oregon native came to light following his emphatic victory over Tyron Woodley. Covington walked over the former champion and cruised to a TKO victory that came via rib injury. Woodley had no answer for ‘Chaos’s’ incredible forward pressure. Due to his win, Colby has made his way back into contention.

The top-ranked welterweight went off at the post-fight presser and in the octagon interview that saw him fire heavy artillery. Even NBA icon LeBron James wasn’t excluded from Covington’s onslaught following his Fight Night appearance. His comments received a contentious overview by the MMA community and the mainstream media at large.

The Division one All-American wrestler from Oregon is arguably one of the biggest heels in the sport of MMA. He adopted the persona after his emphatic victory over former title challenger Demian Maia in Sau Paulo. Moreover, he was content to take bring his persona to the next level in the years that followed. Several fighters and personalities in the MMA community have been at the receiving end of Covington’s wrath.

Colby has backed up his fighting words with stellar performances inside the cage. Barring his round five TKO defeat to the undisputed champion, Kamaru Usman, Covington has been on a tear. He has walked through notable championship fighters including Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley, and Rafael dos Anjos. Moreover, he also set a UFC record for landing 541 strikes on Lawler in their meeting.
