O’Malley called out the featherweight champion  Following his victory at the main event of UFC 299 in the cage itself. During the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, He said, “Dana, give me a jet to Spain baby, I’m coming for Ilia Topuria.” He said. “. . . I want Ilia baby, give me Ilia.”

Following this, the featherweight champion responded on Twitter and congratulated him. However, he also asked him to stay in the bantamweight division first and then walk his way up to fight him. Reflecting on the same, he asked O’Malley to focus on the fight with Merab first.

On X., he said, “Suga, congrats.. Was a beautiful performance! There is a fight chasing you with Merab.. Get that done first.”

It appears that Topuria considers this match-up to be pre-mature. However, O’Malley would disagree and draw inspiration from Conor McGregor.

O’Malley is adamant about Topuria’s fight

One might argue that O’Malley should continue fighting in the bantamweight division and defeat the champions therein. But according to the bantamweight champion, he is in a position to not worry about titles and divisions. To substantiate this, he cites Conor McGregor as an example.

In the post-fight interview, He said, “The belt is cool. But once when you get to a certain point where you can main event and just the kind of fight, you know, look Conor was 45-pound champion fighting on Nate like I want to.”

From the aforementioned it can be seen he is keen on this fight. So we let you be the judge, do you think this fight will take place? Share with us your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.
