Leon Edwards is widely considered as one of the UFC’s most promising welterweight competitors right now. The Jamaican superstar boasts a magnificent fight record of 19 wins, 3 defeats, and 1 no contest. “Rocky” has not lost a single bout in his previous 10 and seems to be unstoppable at the moment. His confidence is inspiring, and fans are eager to see him return to the octagon.
Leon Edwards recently appeared in an interview with MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani and discussed a variety of topics. One of the topics they spoke about was his upcoming fight against his bitter rival, Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal.

When he was questioned about the fight eventually taking place, Edwards stated, “I told you I would have done it. I would do it. You know? Get it this year and I’ll do it. They came with the right figures so I thought f*** it. I’ll make a little step up from a tower shop and take this man out.”
He was also asked how difficult it was for him to secure the fight. To that, he replied, “We came into the right figures. Went back and forth by two weeks. I was trying to get the right situation. Obviously, that’s best for me and my team. We now ended up getting it done, you know. So, I’m looking forward now to finally get my hands on him.” I’ve been pushing for this fight for three years and I’m looking forward to it.”
The two welterweight contenders will be to squaring off at the highly awaited UFC 269 on December 11th.

Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal’s altercation
Leon Edwards has been at the top of the welterweight division for quite some time now. The upcoming fight between ‘Rocky‘ and ‘Gamebred‘ has been in the making for three years now. In the interview, Leon claimed that Jorge turned down the five-round fight. He said, “I asked the UFC for a five-round fight with him. He… I think he turned around and said he wants three rounds.”I haven’t fought three rounds for a long time there. I’m a championship fighter. My last five fights was probably like five rounds”

The two have been bitter rivals since the infamous “Three-piece and a soda” incident that went down between them backstage. The incident occurred after the UFC Fight Night: Till vs Masvidal event, during a backstage brawl with fellow welterweight Leon Edwards. Masvidal was in the middle of an interview with Laura Sanko backstage when he was interrupted by Edwards. Masvidal then began walking towards Edwards with his hands behind his back before unleashing a barrage of blows on the British fighter.
