UFC welterweight Colby Covington is the next contender for the UFC welterweight title. As he waits for his shot, ‘Chaos’ directed an all-out rant towards Kamaru Usman. Covington, who has been trash-talking Usman for a meaningful period, is keen to secure his rematch.
Both men went to war at UFC 245 and Usman earned a hard-fought TKO win over Colby Covington in the fifth round. ‘Chaos’, who protested Marc Goddard’s decision to stop the fight, believes that he didn’t get a fair shake. When speaking to ‘The Schmo’, Covington attacked Usman and threatened to give him a wedgie when they would rematch each other.

“The only thing holding up this fight is Marty Juiceman, the CEO of EPO taking forever to sign the contract… He’s been in there with me, he knows what’s going to happen when we get back in there again. He’s not going to have a ref to help him cheat…I’m the number one guy in the world, I have the number one ranking next to my name and I’m next for Marty Juiceman.”
“He was ready to fight in June against Michael Chiesa. Why isn’t he ready to fight me? It sounds like he knows I’m a hard fight. If I was an easy fight, wouldn’t he just want to come take this fight right away?…but no. He knows I’m going to take his lunch money next time I see him. I’m going to give him a wedgie inside the octagon and I’m going to take that 10 pounds of gold.”

Colby Covington x Kamaru Usman 2- Is it on the cards?
Colby Covington has been on the sidelines since September 2020. In his last fight, he finished Tyron Woodley in the fifth round. Many assumed that he would be on the fast track to rematch Usman. However, the fight hasn’t happened. Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman has gone on the defend his belt twice against opponents not named Colby Covington.

Apart from Leon Edwards, there are no clear contenders in the welterweight division for Usman to fight next. With ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ wanting to keep a high activity rate as the champion, he’ll likely end up facing Covington before the end of the year. Not to mention, Usman vs Covington 2 has a built-in storyline that is extremely compelling.
