Kevin Lee kept his fighting options open after being released from the UFC last month. The fighter recently officially joined Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fighting promotion, Eagle FC. Kevin Lee signed a multi-fight deal with Eagle FC and revealed that he plans to compete as a 165 pound fighter in the promotion.

Some people found it quite ironic that Lee joined Khabib’s promotion because when Khabib was at the UFC, Lee was taking shots at him and wanted to fight the Dagestani native.

Lee recently spoke with MMA reporter Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour about his new contract with Eagle FC.

“Yeah, it was the first time I actually ever met him in person. We didn’t have to go into you know, oh I wanted to fight you and then I’ll be cool… We didn’t even have to speak on all that you know. You could just kind of tell off a man’s eyes sometimes with the messages behind it. And I’m going to let the action speak. You know I’m going to go out there and I’m gonna shed some blood for him,” said Kevin Lee.

Knowing the history of their relationship at the UFC, Helwani went on to question Lee if it was uncomfortable for him when he met Khabib for the first time. To that, Lee responded, “No tension. I mean, Khabib’s a respectful guy, you know. He gets a lot of respect for a reason. So there’s no tension, no nothing like that. “
