Dustin Poirier is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in the UFC right now. The fact that Poirier is presently ranked first in the UFC’s lightweight division simply adds to his case. ‘The Diamond’ has defeated many notable fighters in the promotions. Among these are Max Holloway, Conor McGregor, and Dan Hooker.
The UFC veteran has been with the promotion for over ten years and has put on numerous outstanding performances. His professional fight record stands at 28 wins and 6 losses. The fighter was also a former interim lightweight champion in the UFC. Many believe Poirier will be the next lightweight champion.
If he wins his forthcoming encounter this weekend, he will be able to accomplish his dream of being a champion. ‘The Diamond’ will meet lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, on December 11th at UFC 269. This will be his third fight this year.

Dustin Poirier recently spoke with the UFC legend and MMA analyst, Michael Bisping. During the interview, the two discussed a wide range of topics. Bisping even asked Poirier about his status on retiring anytime soon.
Poirier told Bisping,” I see a lot of fighters trying to get every last drop out of their career and leave a lot of themselves out there and I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna do that. I’ve been fighting a long time. I had my first fight at 18 years old. So, I don’t think I am going anywhere, I think I might fight less frequently.”
He added, “I just love fighting, and it’s who I am, you know how it is. I think win, lose or draw, Saturday night. I’m not going to fight three times a year moving forward.”
