Khabib Nurmagomedov retired after defending his UFC lightweight gold for the third time against Justin Gaethje in October 2020. Following that fight, he has turned to other ventures and is roaming the world, making appearances at different events.

A massive soccer fan, Nurmagomedov recently visited Old Trafford to watch Manchester United play against Everton. This was Nurmagomedov’s first visit to the ‘Theatre of Dreams.’

However, during an interview in the stands prior to kick-off, the 33-year-old revealed he wasn’t a sole United fan. Nurmagomedov said, I’m not like fan of Manchester United, I am gonna be honest. But I am fan of all football, you know. Like I remember when I grew up like. And with my father all the time watch match. And I remember it was like 1996 Euro here in England and watch a live first match.”

He added, It was England versus Germany. That time England lose by penalty. And I watch the next match final Germany vs the Czech Republic⁩. Yeah, the Czech Republic and after that, I watch all the world cup, European championship, all premier league, Spanish league, Italian league, and champions league and I follow everything.”

The retired UFC fighter has credited his father for his interest in football. However, this is not the only thing ‘The Eagle’ has credited his father for. Khabib’s father has trained him and his team throughout their career. Now, the former UFC lightweight champion has taken up the mantle.

Khabib Nurmagomedov as a Coach

‘The Eagle’ is one of the most prominent names in combat sports. He has an undefeated 29-0 record in the UFC. Even though Nurmagomedov is retired now, he hasn’t completely left the sport.

The Dagestan native now trains his friends and teammates for their MMA careers. However, the most promising prospect under him is his childhood friend, Islam Makhachev. He has only one loss on his resume.

Makhachev, currently on an eight-fight win streak, will take on Dan Hooker at UFC 267. As Makhachev has shown impressive dominance in the roster under Khabib’s guidance, it will surely excite fans to see how he continues on his journey to the top.
