Working in a Marvel movie is definitely the peak of any actor’s dream. And one of the select few lucky actors who has enjoyed the privilege of being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Frank Grillo. The actor discussed fighting, maintaining his fitness, and much more, as he appeared as a guest on the ‘Chattin Pony’ podcast, hosted by Paddy Pimblett. He also discussed what is it like being a part of the Marvel movies and the impact it has on an actor’s career.
Frank Grillo is a martial artist in addition to being a busy actor. He has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 1991 and currently has the rank of brown belt.

Grillo discusses his famous fight scene with Chris Evans with Paddy Pimblett
Paddy Pimblett had Frank Grillo as his guest on his podcast. The two were discussing various topics revolving around fighting and it was obvious for Pimblett to bring up the iconic elevator scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Pimblett asked whether anybody actually got punched in the face during the scene. And Grillo was quick to answer, “Oh. Oh yeah, you can hear Chris Evans talks about it, I’ve heard. And Mackie. Oh, yeah.”

Grillo further stated that he didn’t hold back during the fight scene. “I said, ‘We’re gonna fight’. I’m not pulling punches. So keep your hands up. I’m gonna… the worst you’ll do is take shots there (points at the forearms). But, I’m gonna hit you.”
The 55-year-old went on record saying that the elevator scene that he was a part of was the best fight scene in the MCU. “And I think that fight is one of the best fights in the Marvel Universe because it’s real. Like I was hitting Chris. Yeah, we were black and blue. It was fantastic.”
Marvel is a game-changer

Paddy Pimblett dived deeper to know what’s it like to be a part of Marvel movies. And Frank Grillo explained how it is a complete game-changer for any actor. “Yeah, I mean, you know even for me like playing Crossbones, which you know he’s only in the movie a little bit, and… but I’ve done three… three movies now from Marvel. And, you know it’s a life, it’s a game changer. Even if you’re a secondary character, it’s a game-changer. And it’s a giant, huge family man. And, when you’re part of the Marvel Universe, it’s a global phenomenon.”
Grillo stated that Marvel is Kevin Feige‘s brainchild and calls him a visionary. “There’s a guy who runs Marvel. His name is Kevin Feige. And he’s the genius behind it all. It’s one guy who had a vision. Like he was a comic book nerd when he was a kid and he took over Marvel.” The 55-year-old also stated how everything Marvel makes is successful. The actor further concluded by making a strong statement, “Marvel rules Hollywood.”
