Former UFC and Bellator MMA fighter turned pundit, Chael Sonnen found himself in some hot water recently in Las Vegas. ‘The American Gangster’ was reportedly detained by local police for an alleged altercation in a hotel, as first reported by TMZ. Sonnen was slapped with five citations of misdemeanor battery but was supposedly not arrested.
A video surfaced of a shirtless man being escorted out in handcuffs and it appears to be Sonnen. Details of the case are uncertain at best and Chael Sonnen declined to comment in the aftermath of the incident. As it stands, he was supposedly involved in an altercation with a couple and some witnesses saw him banging on a hotel room door per MMA Fighting.com.

Jon Jones has something to say to rival Chael Sonnen
It’s no secret that Jon Jones has had an arduous relationship with Las Vegas police as well given his recent controversies. ‘Bones’ too faced a misdemeanor battery charge along with a felony charge of tampering with a police vehicle. During Jones’ trouble with the law, Chael Sonnen was a vocal commentator who took every chance to speak about the situation.
‘The American Gangster’ even went far enough to make update videos on Jon Jones’ controversies. His most recent follow-up was as recently as a few days ago.
Jon Jones recently took to Twitter and decided it was time for him to comment on Chael Sonnen’s situation. He spoke about the irony behind Sonnen being one of his most vocal critics who now finds himself in hot water. Moreover, he also said that he wished Sonnen and his family well and wanted to separate his own situation in Las Vegas from Sonnen’s.
Chael Sonnen, I’m not gonna sit here and celebrate you getting battery charges against a female last night. That would make me like you, and I’m nothing like you. Instead I will wish your family well, I wish the victims family well

Jones has clearly decided to take the high road and keep his thoughts on Chael Sonnen’s controversy under wraps. Both men share a storied disdain for each other, especially in recent years, and it has been surprising for some to see the route Jones decided to take.
