Drake is a huge fight fan. The Canadian rapper has a history of placing huge bets on UFC fights. The Grammy-winning artist lost $2 million on Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 when he lost to Alex Pereira in the fifth round last year. While this was his biggest loss in a fight, this was not the only time he lost money on Adesanya.
Sean Strickland‘s victory over Adesanya at their UFC 293 bout, one of the biggest upsets in UFC history, lost the musician $400,000. And the rapper has a long history of betting on the wrong horse, giving rise to the term ‘Drake’s curse’. And ahead of Leon Edwards upcoming title defense against Colby Covington, fans are afraid the result is sealed as Drake puts a large bet on the fight.

Drake bets big on Leon Edwards
Drake took to social media and revealed that he had placed a $250,000 bet on Leon Edwards to win via a knock out against Colby Covington at UFC 296 tonight. Edwards is the favorite going into the bout, although the 35-year-old Covington may prove to be formidable as it might be his last shot at the title. Covington fought and lost to then-champion Kamaru Usman in both his prior title bouts.

And Drake is willing to put a quarter of a million dollars on Covington failing in his third title shot too. The Canadian posted a screenshot of his bet on his official Instagram page and captioned it “Head shot pls and thank you @leonedwardsmma”. And fans felt that this all but confirmed a loss for Edwards in his second title defense.
Fans fear Drake’s curse means Edwards will lose
Fans were quick to react to the singer’s bet and were dismayed at Edwards’ prospects. Here is a sample of their comments.
One fan was so confident Edwards would lose due to the Drake curse they decided to put a 100k bet on Covington to win:

Another agreed that Covington would defeat ‘Rocky’ to become the next welterweight champion:
“Leon definitely losing that belt now 😂😂😂😂😂”

Clearly, fans think the Drake curse will ensure Edwards loses the title to Covington at UFC 296 tonight. If the curse does strike, it will certainly come as a surprise to most MMA fans and analysts. Edwards, who is in his prime and has been undefeated for the past seven years, is certainly the favorite going into the fight. But Covington, is likely to pull out all the stops in his perhaps final title shot, making him incredibly dangerous.
