Johnny Walker had a near-perfect outing at UFC 283. The 30-year-old hit his signature ‘worm’ celebration in front of his home crowd after making quick work of Paul Craig. Walker found his win by way of a TKO after bludgeoning Craig with a series of hammer fists after the Scotsman held on to his leg in a takedown attempt. However, the Brazilian spoke up about his aspirations following the win, and he is only just getting started. Walker has grand plans for himself in the UFC and the win at UFC 283 is only a start.

Post his UFC 283 win, Walker revealed his goals and the motivation behind them. In addition, he also revealed one fighter who he is still chasing down.

Speaking to the media after UFC 283, Walker revealed his future goals in the UFC. As reported by ‘MMA Fighting’, the 30-year-old did not set any limits on his dreams as he revealed his plans to hold two belts. Only a handful of superstars have achieved the coveted ‘champ champ’ status in the UFC. Walker revealed one of them to be his motivation to do the same.

Walker said that former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier was his inspiration to become a two-division champion- “It’s my dream as well [to win two divisional belts] and this guy did.”

He continued, “I want to be on his level someday. I want to be a good wrestler as well, improve all of my skills, bring it up because I want to be there. I want to be ready to do what he did.”

“I know it’s a huge thing to do,” he added, “He’s a special fighter, he’s a motivation not just for me, but for everyone else. He’s a big, big motivation and I want to do what he did.”

Furthermore, Walker also called out former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Walker finished his words with a callout to Jon Jones. The Brazilian gave Jones a reminder saying, “I’m coming, [Jon Jones], I’m still coming.”

When Walker debuted in the UFC, many considered him an eventual challenger to Jones. However, he could not keep his momentum. Although he is on a 2-fight win streak, Walker lost four out of his 5 previous fights before that.

Now he has several more top-tier stars like Jan Blachowicz and Jiri Prochazka, among others, on his way to the 205 lbs title. He has a huge mountain to climb if he wants to pursue the ‘champ champ’ status.

Surprisingly, the heavyweight division is not unknown waters to Walker, as he fought as a heavyweight in a few fights during his regional run early on in his career.
