The fight started off with some heavy strikes from Valentina Shevchenko. She attempted a takedown, but Grasso was able to fend it off. Both fighters seemed cautious about the moves they made on each other. The second round saw Alexa Grasso land a heavy right hand that dropped Valentina Shevchenko. ‘Bullet’ got up but the Mexican fighter continued to land some strikes and it looked like the fight would end soon. Nevertheless, the Kyrgyz fighter remained in the fight.

The fight looked like an even one as it went to the 5th-round. The final round saw both fighters trading strikes with Grasso getting busted open in the previous round. However, Shevchenko found herself in a similar situation to her last fight with Grasso on her back, but the bell saved her. In the end, the judges, in a surprising move, declared the fight a draw, and Alexa Grasso retained the flyweight title. After the fight, Shevchenko mentioned that she did not agree with the decision. She said, “I think I did enough. In a fair fight [and] in a fair competition, the victory would be mine.” Let us take a look at what the fans had to say.
