“Wonderboy” has been a huge fan of Black and Gass for a long time now. It may come as a surprise to everyone that Thompson’s nickname “Wonderboy” is a reference to the Goosebumps star’s song with his band, also titled Wonderboy. This just shows how much Black and Gass mean to the fighter and what could be greater for the fighter than witnessing his childhood superstars supporting him.

Thompson has lost his fight against Rakhmonov. However, the nicest guy in the UFC holds no grudges against anyone. In a recent post on his Instagram handle, Thompson issued a thank you note to everyone who supported him in his journey and specifically thanked Black and Gass. “On a night that would be very easy to get lost in the negatives, I have to say, having @jackblack and @theactualkylegass walk with me to the cage and support me is a massive positive & a dream come true.” Wrote Thompson

He added, “11 years and 20 fights with the @ufc and it finally happened! Thank you @ufc & @taylorstephens. Thank you to my family and coaches who pour knowledge & love into me continuously! Thank YOU fans for all of your love and continued support!”

It was a dream come true moment for the karate specialist because Thompson had tried to have Black at his walkout before as well.

The Time when Jack Black almost made an appearance with Thompson

At UFC Orlando on December 3, 2022, Thompson asserted that he would be accompanied into the ring ͏by the iconic actor and si͏nger, Black, as he faced Kevin Holland in the main event of the evening. Thompson was excited to finally have his childhood hero alongside him as he was going to fight. Thompson even confirmed Black’s appearance. “Speaking of ‘Wonderboy,’ I got Jack Black gonna walk me out. He may like lipsync it or something, but I don’t think he’s gonna sing it, no. He’s gonna walk me out,” said Thompson on Chris Weidman’s Won’t Back Down podcast.

However, his dream of walking out with Thompson was shattered. Thompson had to announce that his intended UFC Orlando entrance alongside Jack Black has unfortunately been called off due to a scheduling clash on the Tenacious D frontman’s side.
