“In a Perfect World” – Francis Ngannou Reveals What Happens After UFC, Discloses 1 Demand From Dana White

UFC’s ex-heavyweight champion recently appeared on ‘MMA Hour’. The episode was also live-streamed on YouTube. The host, Ariel Helwani, a noteworthy MMA journalist, was sitting with the Cameroonian beast himself. Francis Ngannou came to the show after his recent release from the UFC. According to the fighter, he was not released, he was already a free fighter since the beginning.

While the UFC does not allow its fighters to fight in other leagues independently, Ngannou had other plans for himself. The ex-UFC champion wanted freedom for himself. Like a free bird, Ngannou wanted to fly high in a sky of opportunities. However, his expectations did not sit right with UFC president Dana White.

The 53-year-old American tried his best to keep the talented fighter bound to the league. Little did he know that ‘The Predator’ does not like to be chained down. Francis Ngannou likes to roam around the jungles of MMA; staying true to his nickname. When he previously appeared on MMA Hour, he told Helwani the reason why his tensions with White have been increasing.

After Ngannou left the UFC, the video started resurfacing. Perhaps it was at that moment that the reporter realized that he should interview the 36-year-old fighter again. The new interview offered good insights into Ngannou’s current situation and clarity on why exactly did he leave UFC.

During the interview, the fighter mentioned the ‘perfect’ world to him. While talking, Helwani stumbles upon a rather emotionally driven question for the 36-year-old beast. Upon asking about his perfect free world, Ngannou replied, “yes in a perfect world, I go out there get some boxing match, come back, get some MMA, maybe switch again.” The man wants to fight without restriction. A restriction that the UFC was giving him.

When asked about his current situation since he left UFC, ‘The Predator’ confirmed that a lot of promoters have approached him. After all, Ngannou is an excellent fighter. The UFC tried its best to contain him, however, in the end, he did what he believed was right. When Helwani asked the fighter whether he is overwhelmed by the approaches, the Cameroonian replied wisely, “it’s not like I have to give a response now but I can’t have control over everything.”

What did Ngannou really expect from the UFC?

One of the key highlights of the interview was Ariel Helwani asking, “So what do you want? Could you tell the world, Francis?” The question was so forward that it could confuse any fighter. However, the existentialism of the question could not snatch away the focus of a real heavyweight champion. “I need some respect, some dignity. I need some freedom. I need to feel like a man. Own my freedom, control my destiny. Decide what I’m gonna do. I don’t want anybody to decide for me,Ngannou replied.

The frustration of the top heavyweight star is flashing in his words. All he needed was to feel his freedom. However, the contract system by the UFC did not offer him much. Consequently, Francis Ngannou did not settle for anything less and stood by his beliefs and demands.
