Michael Chandler teases a fight with Conor McGregor

As we approach the end of 2023, it’s hard to ignore the ͏conspicuous ͏absence of McGregor and the ex-Bellator lightweight champion from the official͏ fight schedule. Despite the rollercoaster ͏of emotions while waiting for this showdown, Michael Chandler remains ͏resolute in his pursuit of that lucrative͏ ͏’red pan͏ty night.’ His latest social media activity is a clear indication of this fact.

As a custom, McGregor and Chandler were supposed to fight as the coaches of TUF. Both were slated to fight in 2023. However, the USADA intervention for “Notorious” halted their progress. As per USADA, McGregor had to test clean twice, at least during a mandatory six-month waiting period to compete in the octagon. In the end, “Mystic Mac” had to undergo the USADA drug test, but the date of his return is still to be ascertained.

Since then, there have been multiple takes from some people regarding the return of McGregor. Chandler in his most recent escapade has teased his fight with McGregor on the UFC 300 card. The fighter took to his Instagram handle to share a morphed picture of him and McGregor on his story having a faceoff and in the back there was the UFC 300 banner.

McGregor has always hinted at his return but his most recent interaction with the media was an eye-opening revelation for everyone who was waiting for his return. While having a conversation at the ‘Day of Reckoning’ boxing event McGregor was asked about his return and the “Notorious” claimed that the UFC is looking for more opponents for him and he will be returning soon. This intrigued “Iron” to issue the challenge. However, Chandler’s actions are interesting considering this is the same fighter who challenged Nate Diaz a few days ago to fight at the UFC 300.

In recent developments, Nate Diaz took to social media to reveal that he hasn’t secured an opponent for UFC 300, a post that garnered responses from both Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler. The situation has cast uncertainty over the much-anticipated McGregor fight, with Diaz seemingly taking precedence over securing the biggest UFC payday.

Chandler, in response, has shown a willingness to step into the ring against Diaz, as he openly expressed on Twitter. “Iron Mike” took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to add a tweet challenging Diaz. “Hold tight. I’d love to crack your jaw. Things are still unclear with that former fighter who is masquerading as a real fighter.” writes Chandler.

With challenges to both McGregor and Diaz, it feels as if Chandler is somehow desperate to make a fight happen. Nonetheless, Chandler’s ultimate opponent will only be decided by the UFC.
