Chael Sonnen clarifies White’s statement on Conor Mcgregor and his status

Conor McGregor was officially slated to fight against Michael Chandler on the pretext of TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) season 31. The fighters even announced that they would be returning to the Octogan to face each other in December this year, However, USADA halted McGregor from entering the Octogan without testing. USADA wanted McGregor to enter a six-month pool before his fight.

Despite McGregor’s multiple efforts to bypass the USADA test, he seems to have finally entered the testing pool. He announced through an Instagram post that he had submitted the paperwork for the testing, however Dana white in a recent interview claimed that the ‘Notorious’ had not entered the pool. This led to widespread confusion regarding the comeback.

The former UFC fighter and legend Chael Sonnen in his new video on his YouTube channel clarified this confusion. Sonnen states that both McGregor and White have different views about the testing. He adds “ There are a couple of headlines going around, so let me clear those up for anybody who saw a headline but didn’t read it. Dana White was asked about this last night, and Dana said, “No, Conor’s not in the pool.” Conor said, “I’ve submitted my paperwork; I’m in the pool.” Dana clarifies and says, “No, he’s not in the pool.”

Sonnen Further adds “ Well, hold on. If you just read that headline, you might be a little confused by the last three minutes of me speaking to you. Conor filled out the paperwork and submitted it. In Conor’s mind, that means he’s in the pool, which it might as well mean that because when that paperwork works through and processes, whether that’s 10 minutes later or 10 days later, he won’t actually know. As soon as he turns it in, he needs to be ready and understand that he is eligible for testing, have his whereabouts down, have his system cleared out, whatever that might entail. So that’s what Conor did, and Conor believed that that meant he was in the pool. Dana didn’t change this. Dana only clarified by saying, “Conor did his part; we now have a part in terms of getting this process”

Alongside Mcgregor, Chandler seems to have also entered the USADA testing pool. The fighter recently took to his X(formerly Twitter) to provide an update on his USADA status.

Chandler added that he has been visited by the USADA employees for his test. He added, “ Got a visit from #usada today…timing is always on point. Ball is rolling. See you soon”. Fighters need to spend six months in the testing pool before they are eligible to compete. This suggests UFC 300 Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor are all clear to face each other.
