UFC 300’s main event was as spectacular as ever, and it seemed like Alex Pereira was not in the mood to stop in his endeavor to become one of the greatest ever to step inside the Octagon. The Brazilian entered the Octagon with only one thing on his mind: to defend his belt and win against Jamahal Hill. And that’s exactly what he did, knocking out ‘Sweet Dreams’ in the very first round.

Alex Pereira not only defended his belt but also avenged his friend Glover Teixeira’s loss against Hill. Pereira is already a double champ but seems like ‘Poatan’ is looking at the heavyweight division as his next target. In his conversation with Joe Rogan, Pereira confirms his next move to the heavyweight division.

Alex Pereira has had eight fights in the UFC, and within those eight outings, ‘Poatan’ has already become the double champion, defending his belt twice. Now, he is seemingly eyeing the heavyweight division. When Rogan asked Pereira what he wanted from the UFC, he had one thing to say: a chance at UFC 301 in the heavyweight division.

“You know, I wanna keep to continue to defend this belt. Though a lot about fighting in Brazil. I won this fight and I’m not hurt, nothing happened. I know there should be a lot of promotion behind a fight, but you know, I wanna have a fight at heavyweight,” said Pereira after the event.

Alex Pereria has been hinting at his heavyweight break for quite a time now and seems like the time has finally come for the Brazilian to step inside the dark alleyways. Interestingly, The heavyweight champion, Jon Jones has reacted to Pereira’s victory at the UFC 300.

The heavyweight division is currently in a tough spot, with Jon Jones, the champion, on hiatus due to a pectoral injury. Tom Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champion, is eagerly waiting for Jones to return so they can face off. In summary, the state of the heavyweight division is uncertain right now, and the addition of Pereira has the potential to improve it.

Interestingly, seems like Jones was watching the fight in the background. The heavyweight champ through his social media handle appreciated Pereira’s spectacular victory against Hill. “It’s extraordinary. The power is immense.” wrote Jones.
