Chris Weidman went up against Bruno Silva recently at UFC Atlantic City and that was one controversial bout to say the least. Weidman managed to achieve a stoppage victory over his opponent but Silva was visibly frustrated and it wasn’t only because he lost the bout. But has the bout gotten Dana White’s attention?

The third round TKO victory came after not one, but two eye-pokes administered with almost surgical precision from Weidman. The incident was not clear in the beginning as Silva went down pretty quickly but once a slow motion version of it was played, things became clear.

Weidman’s finger first poked the left eye causing Silva to lose his footing and as he went down, the other hand poked his other eye too. Silva went up to the ref to argue for himself and was frustrated with everything but the final victory still went to Weidman.

Silva would later report that he ended up losing 30% vision in his eye due to the eye pokes after an eye examination. “I feel like it’s a legitimate win,” Chris Weidman would later claim on The MMA Hour Show. Regardless of his take and Silva’s grievances. An important issue was raised. Is something wrong with the UFC’s gloves that allow so many eyepokes?
