Round 1 of the fight started with the two women throwing test jabs to feel out each other’s range. Murphy put her outstanding striking skills on full display as she got the better of the exchanges in round 1. Tate landed a few good strikes, but nothing seemed to hurt Murphy. Murphy’s slick head movement helped her evade the jabs thrown by Tate.

Tate switched up her style by trying to take down Murphy in round 2. But Murphy’s takedown defense and strength were too much for the former UFC champion to handle. Murphy continued to throw shots and get the better of the exchanges. Tate seemed to have no solid answer for Murphy, and dominated the majority of the round.

Tate landed a few good counter hooks on Murphy at the start of round 3. Unfortunately for her, Murphy denied letting her gain any momentum and answered back with a few combinations of her own. Tate couldn’t keep up with the pace of Murphy and needed something spectacular to win. Ultimately, Murphy won the bout via a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
