Alex Pereira could knock out an opponent one day and then dress up as their doctor the next, just for the kicks. However, did this one joke just go a bit too far? Pereira is currently the light heavyweight champion of the UFC, and his jokes too could go from light to heavyweight. Just like that one time he pranked his coach with a car which was actually his own.

Just imagine the pranks he would pull on his girlfriend, Merle. Well, the UFC fandom is sharp as a knife and it looks like they’ve noticed ‘Poatan’ and Merle unfollowing one another from their socials. So, is there a big breakup or just a bad period of time? And more importantly, was it because of this fake proposal prank?
Alex Pereira pranked Merle by going down on one knee
Everyone dreams of being proposed by the love of their life. The moment is even more beautiful if it’s done right in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. However, for Pereira, this was the perfect moment to prank Merle. In a now-resurfaced video, fans can see the whole thing.
He goes down on one knee as perhaps his friends record him walking up to Merle. He slowly goes down on a knee, gives her a ‘Poatan’ stone-face style stare-down, and then, gets back up. Even the Eiffel Tower could be put to shame with Pereira’s cold monumental humor.
Either way, would it be too far-fetched to assume that the couple broke up because of this one joke? Perhaps. The truth is, we’re just not all that sure about why the two have separated ways if at all. Fans have been speaking of the fake proposal but it’s a bit tedious to get any information out of the Brazillian whose favorite word is “Chama”.
Pereira can be a perfect imitator of Geralt of Rivia from ‘The Witcher’ in that that he can take down the toughest of opponents while using only grunts and “hmm” to communicate. So getting answers and clarifications out of him is a struggle. However, he did share an interesting detail on his Instagram stories earlier.
Pereira feels lucky
In a recent story on his Instagram, he told his fans how he’s just won two bikes within a very short period of time. He mentioned no stress and did nothing to address the rumors. Clearly, he’s keeping his private life as private as it could be.
“won two bikes in the raffle in less than 2 months guess I’m lucky” he wrote in a caption. This one’s roughly translated, but the fighter has reported winning those bikes for good. Clearly, Pereira has entered no stage of grief that he’s willing to put out there. On the other hand, rumors about his breakup are still ripe. Will the light heavyweight champion clear out the air any time soon? We’ll have to wait to find out.
