“Is This What I Taught You?”: Khabib Nurmagomedov Got Scolded for Using Instagram in the Gym (Video)
For the unknown, former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov also coaches aspiring UFC fighters along with the existing ones. However, in the gym, he is not the head coach. Although, for now, the former lightweight champion has taken a break from all MMA stuff, including his own promotion, there is a video of him going viral. In the video, head coach Javier Mendez lashed out at the relaxed Dagestani in the gym. This was done in order to contain the decorum of the gym.
It looks like Mendez had received a few complaints regarding ‘The Eagle’, slacking off the practice hours. The head coach could only bear so much indiscipline in his gym. Although the ex-UFC fighter is known widely for discipline, the video highlights how Khabib Nurmagomedov would be in an alternate universe. However, the situation presented is very real indeed. It is pretty clear that coach Mendez does not want people sitting around idle in his gym.

Why did coach Mendez scold Khabib Nurmagomedov?
In the video, a relaxed ‘Eagle’ can be seen sitting down in a corner of the gym. This sight bothered the head coach a bit too much. Javier Mendez decided to voice out his concern to his assistant coach directly. We can see that the culture of Nurmagomedov’s team is communicating openly. No matter what the problem is, members are supposed to talk it out without holding grudges. Upon the sight of Nurmagomedov enjoying his favorite Instagram reels, coach Mendez said, “is this what I taught you? Is this how I taught you how to coach?”
The coach decided to remind the 34-year-old that he cannot just ruin the culture of the team. This would help the integrity of the gym in the long run. The Russian was called out immediately for slipping on coaching hours. Even though Conor McGregor’s ultimate rival has been an undefeated UFC fighter, he knows where he is wrong.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s ultimate redemption
The biggest highlight of the short video was that in the end, Nurmagomedov learned where he was wrong. When ‘The Eagle’ argues by saying, “I’m more focused than you,” the head coach reminded him that he is the one sitting on the ground. This sent the ex-UFC fighter into a deep thought before he realized he should stand up now. To encourage team spirit and respect cooperation, Mendez said, “now you’re more focused than me. Put your phone away.”
We can see the positive culture of the team through interaction. When he gets up, Mendez asks Nurmagomedov for a high-five that he eventually follows. In order to show gratitude for keeping him on track, the Russian thanked his senior coach for his kind words.
