The ͏day͏ has finally arrived for UF͏C fighters to transition from their old fightin͏g gear to the new ͏ones. At the beginning of this year, UFC unv͏e͏il͏ed the new g͏loves for the fighters and announced that starting from UFC ͏302, every fight͏er would be d͏on͏ning these new gloves͏. Well, Dana White might think that his decision to change the gear worked in favor of the promotion, but the reality is a bit different from his imagination.

There is already widespread criticism in the MMA community regarding the new gear. Fighters and fans stated that Dana White dodged the bullet with the new gear but he dragged the bazooka towards him as the new gloves were just fancy and didn’t solve any problem. Islam Makhachev even stated that the new gloves would result in more cuts and bruises.

Additionally, when Sean Strickland was asked about his opinion on the new gear, he revealed that it “Sucks.” The former middleweight champion said, They su*k. I don’t know who designed these gloves. Have you ever been in a fight in your life? It’s like you get these dorks who have no idea. They may say, ‘This sounds like a good idea.’ How did you a**holes think this was a good idea? It absolutely su*ks. UFC dropped the ball on that one.”

He added, “They’re a little bit more stitched, but people still get poked in the eyes because they open their hands. Unless you put a boxing glove on it, this sh*t isn’t going to stop. It’s just people creating a problem we didn’t have.” Well, Dustin Poirier and Islam Makhachev wore the new golden gloves in their new pre-fight photoshoot and seems like it didn’t sit well with the MMA community.

Fans turn against Dana White as they react to Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier’s new photoshoot

The idea of having the champions wear golden gloves was good in theory, but in practice, it looked a bit horrible. The design didn’t go well with the shorts and a fan felt that it was something a “six-year-old” would pick.

A social media user believes that the old back gloves were better and there’s just a design flaw by the promotion. Even Islam Makhachev believes that the old gloves were better. When asked about his opinion on his new gloves, the lightweight champ said, “They are very stiff [and] as I’ve told you, they will lead to more cuts – as the previous UFC gloves were softer [whereas] these are stiffer.”

Well, Dana White finally seems to have some support as a fan believes that those gloves might look better inside the cage. Unlike Makhachev, Dustin Poirier stated that the new gloves are just perfect for him. While having a conversation with the media, Poirier added, “I do think there might be more cuts because the padding isn’t as dense. I feel like the knuckles are gonna pierce through that padding. But I like the new ones better. I think they’re better for me”

Criticism for the new gloves doesn’t seem to be stopping, as one fan commented that the new gear looks like gardening gloves.

When Dana White first introduced the gloves, he stated that the champion would wear golden͏ glove͏s to defend their ͏title, while the͏ cont͏e͏nder would wear ͏the regular ones. However, seeing Dustin Poirier donning the golden ͏glove͏s͏ seems to ͏defeat ͏the purpose of the new gear.

Do the new gloves look cheap? Well, according to fans, it does.

I͏t seems͏ that͏ Dana Whit͏͏e͏ mi͏ght have made a misstep as the new gloves ar͏e͏͏ ͏re͏p͏ortedly͏ le͏ss͏ e͏ffective and͏ aesthetically u͏na͏ppealing. ͏What ar͏͏e y͏our thought͏s o͏n this͏? Sha͏r͏e your͏ ͏o͏p͏inions in th͏e c͏om͏ments bel͏ow.
