Even his opponent, Alexander Volkanovski, does not agree with him on this. According to him, the fight sold out in seconds and everyone is talking about UFC 284.

With just a few days left, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev made his final prediction about his upcoming fight. In an interview with MMA Junkie, Makhachev had some interesting things to say about how he thinks the fight will end.

The interviewer quoted Volkanovski’s claim that he will get up every time Makhachev takes him down and the fight will start again. The lightweight champ responded by saying, “Maybe the fight (does) not start again, maybe it’s finished there”.

Makhachev said, “If he (is) not gonna tap, I broke him, or he (is) gonna sleep for sure,” when he was asked about how the fight will end. When the interviewer asked the Dagestani fighter about a possible knockout in the fight, Makhachev said, “I want to knock him out. Last 5-6 fights I have submissions or ground and pound finish; but (in) this fight I wanna look for the knockout.”

With such sharp words, it seems like the lightweight champ is pretty confident about his next fight. The UFC 284 main event can prove to be the biggest fight of Makhachev‘s career yet.
