What comes to mind when thinking about Islam Makhachev? The Dagestani juggernaut who ruled the lightweight division with an iron fist, defeating every top contender in his way, right? But there’s another side to him that fans don’t see as often. Despite being one of the most dominant lightweight champions of all time, Makhachev still prefers a low-key, private life, far from the typical celebrity spotlight.

That said, it’s also true that all eyes in the MMA world will be on the former lightweight king as he steps inside the cage against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322, with a chance to create history by becoming the first two-division champion fighting out of Dagestan. However, before Islam Makhachev embraces the spotlight and chases greatness once again, let’s check out one of the things closest to his heart: his massive animal farm that keeps him tied to home.

What farm does Islam Makhachev own?

For the unversed, Islam Makhachev owns a livestock farm in Dagestan. Before his fight at UFC 311, UFC Europe’s official account uploaded a video, where they showed the former champ living his life in the mountains with his domesticated animals. Makhachev reportedly has over 1,000 animals on his farm, including sheep and horses.

In the video uploaded by UFC Europe, Makhachev was giving them a small tour of his farm, explaining how he planned the area so effectively: “One of the [places] I’m always [at] is the gym. But [the] second one, it’s going to be my farm. This is my dream to make [a] big farm. We have a lot of animals. Small sheep there. Deer. We have horses. We have bikes there. It’s just [a] place you can rest. Do some barbecue. You can spend good time with the friends.”

Now, after witnessing such a vast farmland, many would assume it’s simply the 34-year-old’s hobby, which isn’t exactly true. This land means much more to him than just a property. He revealed that he built this place so he could spend time with his family, the brothers and sisters who helped him become the star he is today.

He added, “I need the place, you know? Most important things [are] the people who are around you. I have the best family. Best brothers around me. I have to be grateful every moment, every day, every minute, for everything what I have right now.”

So, now that we know Islam Makhachev built his farm out of love for animals and the people closest to him, let’s take a look at the other luxurious things he owns.

Islam Makhachev’s luxury assets: Motorcycles, cars & mountain property in Burshi

When it comes to luxury, Islam Makhachev might not be the fighter fans look to for flashy spending since Conor McGregor already dominates that category. But that doesn’t mean the Dagestani star lacks a taste for the finer things in life. His farmland actually sits in the remote mountain village of Burshi in the Republic of Dagestan.

Moreover, the former lightweight champion loves riding mountain bikes and motorcycles through Dagestan’s rugged terrain with his friends and family, something he occasionally shares on social media. It’s hard to judge the exact value of those vehicles since Makhachev hasn’t revealed the models he uses, but it’s safe to say that, as a UFC star, none of them would be cheap. And at the very least, he does own one very expensive car.

According to an article on Hotcars.com, Islam Makhachev owns a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63, priced at around $180,000–$190,000 in the USA. So, even while living a low-key lifestyle, the Dagestani legend still shows he has good taste in luxury items he enjoys using, just like the watch he wore at the UFC 322 presser.

With that being said, as the ex-155 lbs kingpin enters the final years of his professional career, do you think he’ll spend most of his time at the farm, or will he eventually become a coach like his mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov? Let us know in the comments section below.
