Chael Sonnen believes Colby Covington can put Islam Makhachev in danger

‘The American Gangster’ has been closely monitoring the situation between Colby Covington and Islam Makhachev. Despite being in separate weight classes, both fighters have been calling each other out. If Covington wins, it could put Makhachev in a very complicated situation. These are Sonnen’s observations.

Sonnen in a recent statement has explained that Covington might put Islam Makhahev in a very difficult situation. On his YouTube handle Sonnen said “So, you’ve got this back-and-forth battle, and can Islam, armed with the same information I just gave you, find a way to change the course that an entire organization is on? Can he put the spotlight on himself and swoop in to take that fight?”

He further added “If Colby wins and calls him out, it’s going to be very difficult to undo that. That would be the argument for Islam. Now, the argument against Islam is much shorter and much more to the point: if you want to have integrity, none of that call-out and none of that interview would matter.”

It must be noted that for their fight to happen Covington has to win the welterweight belt and nothing can be made sure before the UFC 296. Interestingly Sonnen believes that a fight between these adversaries would be highly beneficial for the UFC as well as for the fighters.
