Both Michael Chandler and Israel Adesanya are phenomenal fighters. That said, their styles are very contrasting. On the one hand, Adesanya uses footwork, range, and tactical attacks, on the other, Chandler is a fast-paced high-volume fighter who leaves it all inside the Octagon.

Israel Adesanya recently did a breakdown of the UFC 274 fight card on his YouTube channel, FREESTYLEBENDER.

Subsequently, he discussed one of the featured bouts at UFC 274 between two top lightweights, Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler. In the breakdown, there was a notable thing about the Kiwi fighter’s choice of words for Michael Chandler.

The Nigerian-born said, “Chandler’s a stud. I mean, he’s the guy that promotes hard work… I like watching his Instagram; You know, whenever I see him, I’m like damn this guy just grows constantly. That’s the kind of sh** I should be doing promoting myself as a fighter. But yeah, I am doing ticktocks.”

Adesanya surprisingly praised the lightweight fighter, who had a lot to express about the Kiwi kickboxer’s bout with the Aussie Robert Whittaker at UFC 271. Chiefly, with Nate Diaz‘s infamous ‘touch b**t’ comment.

Michael Chandler had ripped apart Israel Adesanya after the latter had a lackluster performance on his last outing. Yet, ‘The Last Stylebender’ gave his completely unbiased breakdown of the Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson bout.

This shows the mentality of the middleweight champion and indicates how he has kept a sound head, which perhaps helped him in his reign at the top of the middleweight division.

Israel Adesanya picked Michael Chandler to trump Tony Ferguson

The City Kickboxing fighter after breaking down the fight, suggested that he would hope for the best ‘dog’ to win. However, he offered that given the option he had to pick one of these at UFC 274, he would go with Michael Chandler.

However, the kickboxer also anticipated ‘weird kung fu sh*t’ from ‘El Cucuy’. It’s important to remember that before losing his last three bouts, Ferguson was tearing apart the competition in the lightweight division and had stacked an impressive 12-fight winning streak.

Also, what made him so successful was his pressure and ability to absorb shots. Thus, if Chandler opts to leave his wrestling shoes at the gym and goes toe to toe with Ferguson, the former interim lightweight champion could give him a lot of issues. Chiefly, with his lethal close-range shots and a brutal uppercut.
