UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, has taken the UFC by storm over the past two years, beating some of the best fighters in the UFC light heavyweight and middleweight divisions, securing the title in both weight classes. These past few years, fans have gotten to adore ‘Poatan’ as he has managed to connect to fans despite his “Stone Faced” persona. However, fans were saddened to hear something that happened in Pereira’s personal life.

Given that Alex Pereira and his ex-girlfriend, Merle posted quite a lot of reels on their social medias, the couple had started to rub off on fans. But sadly the two had decided to part ways. The two kept the breakup away from the public’s eye but later revealed their sides of the story. Alex Pereira’s long-time rival and former middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya had much to say about it.

Israel Adesanya takes a jab at Alex Pereira

Fans recently found out that Pereira and his girlfriend split up after the light heavyweight champion deleted all of her posts from his social media. It was later confirmed by Merle and requested the fans respect their decision to split up. However, ‘Poatan’ in a recent interview, told fans the reason why the two broke up, leading to a response from his ex-girlfriend as well.

This led the former middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, to take a jab at his rival Alex Pereira through an Instagram story. He posted a video of Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka staring at each other during before their fight for the light heavyweight strap. The video had a caption that wrote, “POV: You meet your girls male best friend and you and him both know he’s playing the long game”

He also added the emoji of the stone face and an hourglass in the story. The emojis made some people speculate that Adesanya was giving a cryptic message to Pereira. As the Stone face emoji implying to Poatan and the hourglass meaning a countdown to something.

With ‘The Last Style Bender’ flirting with the idea of a comeback, maybe the post means that he would return for a fight against Pereira.

‘Poatan’ reveals the reason for the breakup

Alex Pereira, being the Man of few words that he is, didn’t talk much about the breakup between him and his ex-girlfriend Merle. However, in a recent interview with Full Send MMA, Poatan revealed the reason for the two splitting up.

Pereira, with a heavy heart, told the reporter, “Well, it’s a little hard to talk about this because, for me, I already deleted this person from my life. I would also like to ask my fans to also delete her from your life.” He then proceeded to say, “It was a person I believed, I put her in my house, with my family. After all, I found out, she was married.”
