Khamzat Chimaev moved up to the middleweight division during his last bout against Kamaru Usman. Both the fighters put up an entertaining fight, but Chimaev made sure he’d make the most out of his weight-class move. He went on to get into a little beef with Sean Strickland and now rumors about him fighting Adesanya are afloat. Here’s what the former champion said about it all.

Israel Adesanya is in disbelief

Israel Adesanya is arguably one of the most entertaining fighters inside and outside of the cage. He has been in recovery after losing his crown to Sean Strickland. So far, no official announcements regarding his return have been put out in the open.

However, Adesanya came across a post that had an interesting revelation tied to it. On Instagram, he recently uploaded a story sharing his post with a friend of his. A post that said early negotiations for a fight between him and Chimaev were underway. Of course, Adesanya looked like he had nothing to do with it.

“lol where are they getting this bullsh*t from?!” he texted his friend. “Y’all believe anything, gullible gobblers,” he captioned the story. Clearly, he has no plans of a return anytime soon. More importantly, he’s not planning on coming back against ‘Borz’ just yet.’

So that leaves open a conversation about Chimaev’s future in the division. He’s not fighting Strickland, he’s not fighting Adesanya. However, Dana White has promised to try to make him “more active” in the UFC. So is there something to look forward to with the Chechen?

Who could Khamzat Chimaev fight now?

When Khamzat Chimaev took down Kamaru Usman, it was only after Usman stepped up at a few days’ notice. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ fought valiantly and gave ‘Borz’ a hard earned win. Now, perhaps he’d be happy with a rematch where he’s prepared to take on Chimaev.

Recently, Usman took to his Instagram stories himself. He posted a picture of him facing off Chimaev at the weigh-ins and captioned it, “Run it back?”. Clearly, there are things that are left undone and he’d like to clear it out once and for all. A prepared Kamaru Usman versus a prepared ‘Borz’. Who would pick up the win finally? The winner could potentially land a title shot later. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
