Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya have been in a social media feud for the better part of the year. These two dominant UFC forces might actually face off in the near future. In a recent interview, Adesanya rebuked claims that he always spoke about Jones. He said, “He likes to say I talk about him, but I never talk about it unless I’m asked about him.”

Stylebender also pushed back at Jones and stated, “Who asked him about me when I was fighting? No one.” He also asked the interviewer if he had seen any tweets from Izzy when Jones was fighting Dominick Reyes, to which the interviewer responded in the negative.

Adesanya said, “I don’t talk about him unless I’m asked about him, but he talks about me all the time.” He accused Jones of being jealous and scared and added, “He’s (Jones) been in this position before and he understands the power of momentum, It’s really hard to stop the avalanche when it gets going.”

Stylebender believes that he has been getting exponentially better with each fight and that his performance against Costa was flawless. The fighter noted that although Jones had been calling him out, he would write his own story. He said, “You can’t force my hand… I’ve already told you when I’m gonna whoop your a**. Pick a number and get in line.”

“He’s just another one of those guys that’s just jealous and just wishes he was in my position.” Adesanya concluded. “Hey Jon, you and me know. It’s okay, don’t worry, it’s gonna happen.”

What is the realistic timeline for Jones vs Adesanya?

UFC President Dana White has already acknowledged that this is the fight fans want to see. However, with Jones moving up to heavyweight after relinquishing his belt at 205, it is difficult to see them fighting each other in a non-title match.

This fight, should it happen, would really be a “super fight” in every sense of the word since Jones and Adesanya are the most dominant forces in their respective divisions. Neither fighter has truly suffered defeat in the company. ‘Bones’ only UFC loss coming on account of an illegal shot against Matt Hamill very early in his career.

Adesanya has been adamant that fans will see him face off against Jon Jones in 2021. Only time will tell if all this comes true.
