Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most entertaining fighters in the UFC. From screaming that he will kill all his opponents, promising to make his original UFC 294 opponent Paulo Costa cry, to messaging his opponents’ girlfriends to get under his opponents’ skins, he plays a fantastic villain. This is why he is so popular among fans, as UFC boss Dana White revealed in a recent interview that he was the fighter fans demanded to see in action the most (after UFC megastar Conor McGregor, of course).

In another point to the heel column, he considers controversial social media personality and former kickboxer Andrew Tate a good friend. Also, what Tate thinks about Chimaev’s fighting prowess was revealed in a video call they had a few months ago.

Andrew Tate reluctant to wish Khamzat Chimaev good luck for his next fight

In a video call in May, the mutual love between Andrew Tate and Khamzat Chimaev was apparent. The two started off the call by wishing each other well. Tate then ran a hand through his beard and said that Chimaev had started a trend, indicating that Chechen’s beard was the inspiration behind his growing one.

The social media star said that he would wish ‘Borz’ good luck, but knew he didn’t need it. ‘Top G’ was confident that whoever Chimaev faced next would not be much of a problem and would be dealt with in a short time by the Emirati national.

“Look you’re starting a fashion…I would wish you good luck in your next fight, but it ain’t gonna last long. You don’t need it,” a beaming Tate told the undefeated UFC star.

Tate clearly rates Chimaev highly as a fighter, and like many UFC fans, he seemed to be all in on the Khamzat Chimaev hype train. Chimaev also asked Tate to come and see him fight in October. Tate, who is currently under house arrest due to an ongoing criminal trial against him in Romania, promised to attend if possible.

Khamzat Chimaev to fight Kamaru Usman in a potential thriller at UFC 294

Paulo Costa was originally slated to fight ‘Borz’ opponent at UFC 294. However, he was forced to pull out after undergoing surgery on his right elbow to treat a bad case of staph infection. Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, however, stepped in with less than two weeks’ notice to move up and face Chimaev in the co-main event. This was a surprise, to be sure, for UFC fans, but certainly a welcome one.

The winner of this bout has been promised a shot at the middleweight crown against champion Sean StricklandStylistically, ‘Borz’, who comes into MMA from a wrestling background, likes to take his opponents down and ground-and-pound them. On the other hand, the Nigerian is a striker with a historically great takedown defense. Add to that the bad blood between the two, and it is not hard to see why fans are so excited.

Usman had called out the Chechen earlier this year for a fight at welterweight. Chimaev, however, challenged ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ to a middleweight bout, which Usman originally rejected. But the UFC seems to have sweetened the deal with the promise of a title shot next and, no doubt, a lot of money. Who is your pick for the UFC 294 co-main event?
