“It Can’t Even Happen” – Alex Pereira Slaps an Honest Reality Check on Jon Jones Fight

36-year-old Jon Jones is all set to make a comeback to the Octagon and has resumed his training. The heavyweight champion was out of action because of a shoulder injury, but it seems the wait is finally over. ‘Bones,’ who is considered by many as the greatest ever, often finds ways to stay in the news. This time around, he was in the news for all the right reasons.

The heavyweight champion showed his willingness to take on Alex Pereira in a recent social media post, much to the surprise of many. However, he has now received an honest response from the ‘Poatan’ himself.

Alex Pereira is without a doubt one of the biggest names in the UFC at the moment. However, one cannot look beyond the greatness of Jones as well. ‘Bones’ took to his X account to share his plans and showed his willingness to fight the Brazilian mainly for his accolades. He even termed the potential fight as the greatest ever in the history of the MMA. It now seems that the current light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has not ruled out the chance of fighting the greatest ever. In a recent interview with MMA Hoje podcast, he said, “Oh man I believe it’s the biggest fight in history man. So do I old man who the guy is understand. And what I have been doing also, well.”

Pereira further cleared the fact that the fight was not just dependent on only the two fighters but also the UFC. However, he did make it clear that he would not back away if the opportunity came. The 36-year-old added, “Everyone certainly wanted to see this fight but there not much to say because it doesn’t just depend on us. So exposing myself and talking here when suddenly it can’t even happen. I respect him a lot he understood what if he said there it’s a desire that he has it too so. I respect his wishes and well if that’s what he wants ok.”

Pereira, after his emphatic UFC 300 win, showed his willingness to move to the heavyweight division. A move to the heavyweight division will allow him to go for a third title, which would put him into the category of the greatest. However, the fight is yet to be decided and the fans can only hope to see both superstars in action in the future.

Meanwhile, the recent call-out by Jon Jones has not gone well with interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall and he shared his opinion on the whole.

Tom Aspinall feels Jon Jones is just bluffing at the moment

Current interim champion Tom Aspinall has been waiting patiently to get his next big fight. Despite showing his willingness to fight Jones, ‘Honey Badger’ received no response from the champion. Jones even shared a tweet for the Brit, claiming him to be unworthy of a title shot. However, the 31-year-old leaves no opportunity to get under the skin of ‘Bones’.

After the 36-year-old’s latest claim of fighting Alex Pereira, Aspinall said in a recent TNT Sports update, “Right now, the guys playing games again. Tryna convinces the public of what he wants and what he doesn’t want, which he does well.” While Aspinall is against the much-anticipated battle, Chael Sonnen seems excited about the possibility.

Looking at the portfolio of both fighters, this battle can certainly become the biggest fight in the UFC. Pereira is the current light heavyweight champion dominating most of his opponents in the Octagon. However, he will have to deal with the intense grappling skills of Jones if they ever face each other in the future.
