UFC flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko spoke to James Lynch from Line Movement and chimed in the landscape of her division. ‘The Bullet’ has maintained a stranglehold over the 125-pound class and she’s looked virtually unstoppable in her outings. She has set the gold standard on which all divisional contenders will be judged. Not to mention, she’s arguably one of the most dominant champions across all UFC weight classes.

Shevchenko did a deep dive into the various contenders that were looking promising in their recent outings. Several fighters have emerged from the woodwork, including former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade who moved up. However, Valentina also directed her focus towards Zhang Weili, who has begun catching steam in her championship run.

“It doesn’t make sense. That’s why I’m saying it can be this way or it can be another way. Who cares? Only one thing matters is the belt in your house.”

Valentina Shevchenko has chartered a strong case for being at the pole position of the pound-for-pound rankings. Apart from her longevity fighting high-level opponents, she has been increasingly dominant as time moves along.

She will be aiming to run it back with Amanda Nunes sometime before ‘The Lioness’ walks away from active competition. Should she manage to beat the consensus women’s MMA GOAT, there will be no doubt as to Valentina’s position.
