‘It Gave Me a Lot of Joy’ – Julio Cesar Chavez Praises Brandon Moreno for His Historic Win at UFC 263

Brandon Moreno became the first Mexican fighter to be crowned UFC champion at the UFC 263 event. Since his victory against Deiveson Figueiredo, the fighter has been receiving praise from all around the world. Now the fighter has received praise from someone that would clearly mean a lot to him.

Recently boxing legend and former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez applauded the fighter for his victory. Chavez is a Mexican legend and was all praise for Moreno and complimented him for his victory. When asked to share his thoughts on Brandon Moreno becoming champion. Chavez said, “Yes, of course, I want to send him greetings. It gave me a lot of joy and I want to congratulate him publicly.”

“He truly gave a great fight. I know of Brandon Moreno. He’s a kid with a lot of talents and abilities and thanks to god, he achieved his dream.”

Moreno defeated Figueiredo in the third round of the fight via submission. The victory was clearly very important for Moreno and his country, as after the fight we saw him with tears of joy in his eyes.

Julio Cesar Chavez believes Brandon Moreno will remain champion for a long time.

During the interview, Chavez was asked if he had any tips for Moreno now that he is champion. He said, “I think he should know already that the hard part is not getting there but staying there. I think he has his feet well on the ground and I think he’ll be champion for a long time. God, Willing.”

Chavez has the most title defenses (27) in boxing history and knows all about retaining championships. Therefore, with someone like him saying that Moreno will be a champion for a long time, will mean a lot for the UFC champion.

Prior to the UFC 263 fight, Moreno had faced Figueiredo last December at UFC 256. That fight, which was one of the best of the year, ended in a draw and Moreno could not claim the title. Therefore, this victory at the UFC 263 event meant a lot to the fighter.
