A hot prospect in the midwestern MMA scene, Shalie Lipp, recently passed away in a tragic car accident a few days ago. Moreover, the other passengers in the car survived, except for her. UFC president Dana White shared a post for Lipp on social media as a sign of respect for her. He also mentioned how he felt about the accident in the post-fight press conference of UFC Charlotte.

Shalie Lipp was traveling with her coach, Joseph Trottier, in his Chevrolet Malibu. Their car collided with another vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee to be exact. Lipp was the only casualty when both cars crashed due to her not wearing her seatbelt.

Dana White expresses his thoughts on the death of Shalie Lipp

During the post-fight press conference of UFC Charlotte, Dana White mentioned how saddened he was by the news of the accident. It was one of the few unfortunate incidents that really took a toll on the UFC president. He said, “I know that girl. It hurt me bad. It messed me up for a few days.” White added, “Tragic things happen every day. That one [just] got me.”

Dana White also mentioned that she was scheduled to fight on May 20th. But sadly, she passed away in an accident where she was the only casualty. “She was a 21-year-old training for a fight. She just got back from Thailand, training for a fight that she was supposed to fight on May 20th.”

The 53-year-old promoter also talked about Lipp’s journal, which her mom found out after she died, where she found a message for Dana White. He added, “Her mom found her journal, and was reading her journal. At the end of every entry, she said, ‘Dana White will know my name.” The UFC president received the news of Shalie Lipp’s passing from Mick Maynard, who is the vice president of Talent Relations.

Dana White was touched to see Lipp mentioning him in her journal. He reached out to Lipp’s mother and went ahead to share a post in her memory. White also mentioned that he had been contacting Lipp’s mother after the incident. But now he believes he needs to stop annoying her. “I posted about her and I have talked to her mom a couple of times, gonna leave her mom alone. I think I have been annoying her mom since I found out,” said the UFC president. He added, I did the best that I could do over the last several days.”

Shalie Lipp was a highly-rated amateur fighter with a dream to make it to the UFC. But she couldn’t fulfill her dream. But Dana White hasn’t let her go unnoticed after her death. The UFC president was visibly sad when he addressed the situation during the press conference.
