As reported by ‘BBC‘, the Irish athlete practiced his jiu-jitsu for the first time since his last fight and subsequent leg injury. Coach Kavanagh said (h/t BBC), “He’s healthy, happy, and it’s great to have him back.”
“The last few sessions in the gym were MMA-oriented.- he’s got the all-clear for now.”
“He did a great session last night, we got some great rounds in. He hasn’t lost a beat and was looking great.”

He compared McGregor‘s return to the gym to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He said, “He just walks in and takes part in a regular jiu-jitsu class, and you’ve got guys on the mat there who have only been training a couple of months.”
“So imagine like a group of guys on the park having a kickaround, and then Lionel Messi or Cristiano Rondalo comes up and says ‘hey, I’ll join in’- it really elevates everybody’s attitude on the mat.”
Several fighters like Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler have challenged ‘The Notorious’. While the former has been booked for a fight against Islam Makhachev at UFC 280, McGregor’s return will take some time.

John Kavanagh recently appeared on ‘Blockasset’ and spoke about McGregor. He joked about how the fighter was now a ‘two thousand pound gorilla‘.
