Paddy Pimblett has had a rocky year. Pimblett has gone from one of the most hyped prospects to one of the most hated figures in the UFC. It started with his controversial unanimous decision win against Jared Gordon, which many felt should have gone the other way. And Pimblett’s insistence to Joe Rogan in the octagon interview that the bout wasn’t even close rubbed most people the wrong way.

Fans were unanimous that the Scouser got the decision only because he was a favorite of the UFC and Dana White. Then came the whole Ariel Helwani fiasco, which saw him curse out the journalist for trying to ruin his career. But, as he looks to make his return to the UFC this December, he has opened up about the extent of his injuries. He spoke about his surgeries and the long road back to being in fighting shape.

Paddy Pimblett reveals he had multiple surgeries this year

In an interview with his former promotion, Cage Warriors on YouTube, Paddy Pimblett revealed that he has had multiple surgeries since the Gordon fight at UFC 282 in December last year. These include an inner and outer ligament surgery, as well as getting his CFL repaired. He was on crutches for over six weeks after these operations. However, he is all healed up now and looking forward to fighting in December.

“I had three surgeries [done]. One, basically I had the inner ligament reconstruction, outer ligament reconstruction and…we got me CFL repaired, so it was a lot to get done in one go. But, it’s all done, and now, as I say, I’ve had the okay to fight so I’m getting back in there in December, and I cannot wait to fight again,” the Englishman said.

Pimblett has little to gain and everything to lose in upcoming bout against Ferguson

Paddy Pimblett will face former Interim Champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 on December 17 in Las Vegas. Pimblett has won all four of his fights in the UFC, including his last controversial win against Jared Gordon. Ferguson, however, has had a rocky last couple of years and is on a six-fight losing streak, including his last to Bobby Green via submission in the third round at UFC 291 earlier this year.

The bout, however, is being seen as a no-win situation for the Liverpool native. A win will not be seen by most as a significant achievement, given ‘El Cucuy’s recent record, while a loss would be absolutely devastating for his career and reputation.
