While the main event of UFC 292 was set with Aljamain Sterling going against Sean O’Malley, at the TD Garden, Boston, the hype was built by the co-main event between Amanda Lemos and Weili Zhang. Zhang defeated Lemos via unanimous decision and sent the world into chaos with her performance.

The Chinese warrior displayed her might and proved why she was the undisputed UFC strawweight champion. However, the Brazilian fighter wasn’t that far behind. With firm grips and grappling prowess, she showcased the reason why she deserved to be the challenger. Nevertheless, the fight was packed with nothing but excitement.

The fight between the strawweights began with Lemos aiming to snatch the title from Zhang. Following a touch of gloves, the fight soon proceeded to the ground. After moments of struggle, Weili switched to side control, leaving Lemos to struggle for control. But ‘Amandinha’ didn’t back down easily. However, ‘Magnum’ kept sending barrages of strong hits.

After struggling a bit, Lemos took hold of Zhang’s neck. While many in the world of combat sports seemed to think Zhang lost at that point, she rose again and escaped her opponent’s clutches. She continued sending barrages of strikes. With a mere ten seconds left, she scored a thunderous takedown. The bell rang as the Chinese warrior connected her punches.

The next couple of rounds were also dominated by the Chinese warrior. However, the Brazilian’s toughness garnered her the cheers that sent her going. Zhang attempted a crucifix, but Lemos slipped away. The pattern kept repeating itself and the competitiveness of the fight raised the excitement of the fans.

The final round had the fighters tired, but none of them were backing away. Within moments, Zhang sent Lemos off balance with a spectacular punch and immediately sent a wave of fists in the Brazilian’s way. Zhang tried to execute the crucifix again, but the challenger was not in the mood of giving in. The fight greatly impressed the fans.

Zhang won the fight via unanimous decision and successfully defended her title. Although the Brazilian strawweight competed with finesse, only one could have emerged as the victor. The fans were flabbergasted at the seemingly one-sided fight. One of the fans simply claimed that it was a massacre.

The fans greatly commended the fighting prowess of the WMMA champion.

Another fan pointed out that the fight should have been stopped way earlier.

Nevertheless, many of the fans praised Lemos for not giving in and standing up after every clinch.

The main event began with a bang, indeed. While the first fight of the main card didn’t disappoint, the world of mixed martial arts was eyeing up the fight between ‘The Funk Master’ and ‘Sugar’.
